BIOGRAPHY
Based in the South West since 2000, I was a student filmmaker for 4 years. My earlier works created at university were based around my home experiences of growing up in a military village and the effects that had on both my everyday life and the life of those in the village around me, but since then have progressed to discussions on intimacy especially during the pandemic, and women in theatre.
My graduate film is a modern re-imagining of a classic tale, told through the lens of one of the most well-known female characters in Shakespeare's works. For me, it felt important to tell Ophelia's story in her own voice as it is one we do not hear often since her story in Shakespeare's eyes ends as soon as she drowns herself. For my dissertation, I wrote about the power of storytelling, and how the UNESCO City of Literature of Edinburgh was represented on screen through both literature and film.
A lot of my work has made use of both research and working from classical sources, which has lent itself nicely to my experience in education: initially beginning at the University of Plymouth in 2018 on an English and Creative Writing Foundation Year before transferring internally to study a BA (Hons) in Filmmaking. In 2022, I graduated with a 2:1 in Filmmaking, and made the move back from Plymouth to Wiltshire.
